Due to high demand, Shared Care referrals will be reviewed on the 1st business day of every month. Currently, there is a limited number of spots available each month.
Dr. Comeau is currently accepting referrals from primary care providers for shared care psychiatric consultations focusing on depression and anxiety. Dr. Comeau will provide psychiatric consultations to include diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations, while making himself available for phone consultation with primary care providers following the assessment for additional support. Virtual and in-person options available.
Shared Care for Depression and Anxiety
Accepting referrals from primary care providers located in Medicine Hat for patients residing in Medicine Hat
- Virtual and in-person consultation options available
- After assessment competed, consultation with treatment recommendations will be forwarded to the referring provider
- Primary care providers will b able to connect with Dr. Comeau over the phone to discuss progress and treatment recommendations following the assessment
- Referrals from primary care providers located in Medicine Hat for patients residing in Medicine Hat
- Chronic anxiety and depression symptoms that is impairing the patient’s quality of life
- Moderate to severe symptoms but not requiring a higher level of care such as case management
- Age 18-65
- Has failed at least 3 medication trials (non-response or intolerance)
- Not actively suicidal (requires higher level of care)
- Depression and anxiety symptoms not deemed to be primarily caused by substance use
- No severe active substance use issues
- No primary psychotic illness or bipolar I disorder
